The Institute of Management Accountants’ Student Chapter (IMASC) at Grand Canyon University provides you with the opportunity to learn about business practices through interacting with local business professionals. As an IMASC member, you’ll hear on-campus speakers, attend monthly meetings with the local chapter of the IMA (the Institute of Management Accountants’ Valley of the Sun Chapter), and go on field trips to local businesses for tours and interactive discussions on how these businesses are run.
In recent years, the IMASC has sponsored various speakers presenting about careers in accounting and business, and members have even visited local businesses such as the Ritz Carlton, Phoenix Suns, and Arizona Diamondbacks. IMASC members also contribute to the community by participating in local charity events, including the “Climb to Conquer Cancer,” a six-mile hike to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Local businesses use the IMASC as a forum to seek potential interns and employees. Your participation can lead to part-time work while in school or for full-time employment upon graduation. Furthermore, IMASC membership will entitle you to receive a subscription to the organization’s monthly magazine, Strategic Finance, and to receive discounts on the costs of CMA certification and continuing education.
The IMASC prepares you to join the workforce, allows you the opportunity to network before graduation, and exposes you to new career ideas and current business practices.
